Women in Renewable Energy: Challenges, Opportunities, and Global Initiatives

Event Overview

On 21 February, the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation’s (CAREC) Guest Speaker Series convened a thought-provoking discussion on the challenges, opportunities, and global initiatives for women in the renewable energy sector. The session, hosted through the CAREC Women’s Empowerment Online Platform, featured Aruzhan Mominbayeva, CAREC Gender Climate Champion for Kazakhstan in 2024 and Project Manager for the Center of Green Technologies. In her inspiring talk, CAREC Gender Champion delved into the underlying causes of women’s underrepresentation in the renewable energy field and shared valuable insights on overcoming these barriers through the promotion of gender equality, inclusivity, and innovation. The virtual discussion saw active participation from nearly 70 attendees across CAREC countries, reflecting a shared commitment to empowering women and fostering a more inclusive energy future.
